Apply Now for the European Creators’ Lab 2021

Immersive story worlds of VR/AR are the focus of the European Creators’ Lab: developers and storytellers from all over Europe come together once a year in an inspiring, protected space without competitive pressure to exchange ideas and be creative. This year, the Lab will take place online in November. Applications are open until September 12.

Whether your background is in art, design, production, or programming; whether you actually develop films, games, or XR applications – the European Creators’ Lab brings you all together for a multidisciplinary creative exchange. The Lab consists of two parts: On the one hand, there is the Development Lab and on the other hand, the Booster Lab. In this constellation, creative minds from over 25 different nations have been supported in their learning process since 2017.

The Lab will take place online from November 15 to 19. The application deadline is September 12th, the participation fee is 350 € (+ 19% VAT). On September 27, you will find out if you have been accepted.

Why should you be part of the European Creators’ Lab?

The lab serves as a networking opportunity with other creative minds and international professionals, an intensive exchange of knowledge, the joint development of ideas and collaboration on projects. All participants are supported by experienced mentors. Many of the collaborations continue beyond the time of the Lab and projects were continued afterwards, promoted and received international awards.

Participation is worthwhile: You can learn more about immersive storytelling, develop a project with other participants from all over Europe, and learn from the international mentors as well as from each other. In the long term, you will also benefit from the alumni network of the European XR family.

Who can you expect as mentors in 2021?

The Lab’s first international mentors have already been confirmed: Kent Bye (podcast host voicesofvr.com), Ana Brzezińska (Head of Studio at Kaleidoscope), Alex Herrmann (Founder of XR-Studio expanding focus), Matthias Leitner (Digital Storyteller, UX Designer and SCRUM Master), Philipp Maas (Director at Fable Studio), Elisabeth Mayer (VR researcher and expert in games engines), Liz Rosenthal (executive producer and programmer of immersive content, CEO of Power the Pixel), Sara Lisa Vogl (VR artist, designer and co-founder of Women in Immersive Technologies Europe). The lab will be guided by Astrid Kahmke.

To whom is the Lab addressed?

The Lab is aimed at all writers, VR/AR developers, game designers, programmers, marketing experts, journalists, storytellers, artists, 360° filmmakers, creative producers, startups, media enthusiasts; in summary, all open-minded and curious people with a solid background in a creative profession.
